Faculty and Student Wellbeing Online: New Motivation for Teaching Excellence
Online courses are often characterized by a feeling of disconnectedness for both students and faculty. Yet we know that feeling connected can help us engage, persist, and succeed in any teaching and learning context. We’ll explore some of these challenges, remind ourselves of the value and importance of our work, and reinvigorate our online teaching with small, practical strategies to support both our and our students’ success in our classes. You'll leave with new energy, new ideas, and most importantly, new motivation for doing our important work well.
Author of the groundbreaking 2019 text Small Teaching Online, Flower Darby celebrates and promotes excellent teaching for the sake of our students and their learning. She has taught for over 23 years at Northern Arizona University where she is Assistant Dean of Online and Innovative Pedagogies.
